BTD IN EMERGING INDIE TOP 10 OF GLOBAL 100

From Realscreen - Founded by producer/director Matthew Shewchuk in 2020, this West Coast Canadian prodco has established a solid reputation for gritty "occusoaps" such as History's Rust Valley Restorers, Yukon Rescue for History Canada and Nat Geo, Underdog Inc. (pictured) for AMI and The Last Captains, which recently kicked off its second season on Bell Media streamer Crave.

But there's more to the Big Time Decent story than rough-and-tumble docuseries. There's Vet Detective for Nat Geo, which follows Dr. Lauren Adelman, a veterinarian with a knack for uncovering animal medical anomalies. And coming soon to Canadian pubcaster TVO, there's Canada From Above, an ambitious three-part aerial exploration of some of the country's most spectacular regions.

The company has also expanded from a business perspective over the past year, launching a distribution division, Big Time Decent International, overseen by head of sales and development René Brar. The division not only handles BTD's slate but is actively looking for third-party content to rep. In 2024, BTD moved into scripted, establishing Bread and Butter Films.
